We use a slightly modified version of the Goldmine Grading System:
Our records are graded using the Goldmine grading system.
Understanding the Goldmine Grading System:
The Goldmine grading system is the most widely used standard for assessing the condition of vinyl records. It provides a consistent framework for collectors and sellers to evaluate records, ensuring clarity in the buying and selling process. Here are the key grades in the system:
•Mint (M): The record is perfect in every way, typically still sealed and has never been played. This grade is rarely assigned.
•Near Mint (NM or M-): The record appears nearly perfect, showing no obvious signs of wear. It may have been played a few times but has no surface noise or distortion.
•Very Good Plus (VG+): The record shows some signs of use but plays well without significant issues. It may have minor surface marks that do not affect playback.
•Very Good (VG): The record has noticeable wear and may have surface noise, but it is still playable. It may have scratches or scuffs that are audible but not overwhelming.
•Good (G): The record is playable but has significant scratches and surface noise. It may skip or have other playback issues.
•Fair (F): The record is heavily worn and may be unplayable. It is often used as a placeholder until a better copy is found.
• Poor (P)/Worn (W): The record is damaged and not playable. Typically only valuable for collectors of rare items.
By "slightly modified," we also include Excellent (EX) as a grading since it is used as a classifier for ebay listings.
• Excellent (EX): A record in Excellent condition might be one that has some very minor flaws or imperfections from the factory, or that might have been played once or twice with some evidence of having been played. It's not quite good enough to be considered NM or M-, but is notably better than a VG+ example.
Understanding this scale will help you ensure you are receiving a record in the condition you want. We do our best to ensure the accuracy of listings based on this scale since the listing photos are not always perfectly representative of the actual condition of the media. Each record, sleeve, and inlay is graded as it is photographed for sale. We do our best to be as objective as possible with every review.
We do not currently have a brick and mortar location (though it is our greatest ambition to get there eventually). We do buy, sell, and trade, but this is done by appointment only.
We do our best to offer a robust product range at competitive prices online, but in-person deals with cash in hand will always reign supreme. An in-person appointment will also grant you access to records that have not been categorized, graded, or posted for sale online meaning you could get a first-hand look at some stuff we have that hasn't made its way to the general public yet.
If you are interested in buying in person or trading, please drop us a line (/contact)with the subject "In-person appointment to buy" or "In-person appointment to trade" and we can coordinate a meeting.
Do you have a collection you're trying to offload? Working through an estate, clearing up space, or lost interest in Vinyl Record collecting as a hobby? We'd love to hear from you. We routinely buy collections at fair and agreeable prices. While we shop collections to buy that have room for our business to make some money, we will always do our best to be respectful of your time and your stuff. We ask that you please be respectful of ours and don't expect that we will pay you 10k for your collection that has a "10K Discogs High Value." If you have a collection you're looking to get rid of, please drop us a line (/contact)with the subject "Looking to sell my record collection." We are generally willing to travel to buy the right collection.
Payments are processed through Wix payments. Sales tax for your specific state will be appended to your total when you are ready to finalize your order. We know how much it sucks having to pay extra for both tax and shipping. We try to minimize the cost of shipping to you without shooting ourselves in the foot, so we offer free shipping within the US on all orders over $20.00! Since all the products we offer are made and fulfilled in the USA, turnaround times are generally reasonable (we've seen as fast as 3 days, and as slow as 14 days during peak season (November/December).
A note about international shipping and commerce:
We don't currently have well-established fulfillment relationships outside the US, and shipping internationally is expensive. However, we have, on several occasions, met our international customers through a bit a finagling. So, if you're outside the US, and enthusiastic about our range of weird t-shirts and fun designs, and you're someone with bad taste, drop us a line (https://www.tracknasty.com/contact)and we'll do our best to get you a genuine Tracknasty design at the most reasonable possible cost.
All sales on used/open box/2nd hand/resold items are as-is, where-is, and final, and we do not accept returns for these items. We do our best to accurately disclose the condition of all items, but it is likely we will not be 100% accurate 100% of the time. If you believe the nature of a graded item is heinous or grossly incorrect (e.g.: it's rated EX or NM/M- and it's a FAIR example) please let us know so we can try and make it right. There is additional information listed on our terms and conditions page.(https://www.tracknasty.com/terms-and-conditions)
If you are otherwise unsatisfied in a way that is not defined here or on our terms and conditions page, please reach out to us so we can review your case.
We will review and accept commissions on a case-by-case basis (commissions are currently closed). In the past we have provided some one-off custom work by customer request for bespoke gifts, but we are not above composing a design and creating team shirts for your drunk cornhole league, if that's your jam. Drop us a line (https://www.tracknasty.com/contact)and let us know what you'd like for us to put together for you. Worst we can say is "no," and our standards are extra low, so it's unlikely.
We currently sell via www.tracknasty.com, (www.tracknasty.com,)our Etsy store, our facebook store, and our instagram store. All of these pages are linked to the official Tracknasty pages, and all of them contain backlinks to the tracknasty.com (tracknasty.com)website. The only people licensed to produce these products are us (the folks at Tracknasty), and our designated fulfillment partners. If you see our designs elsewhere, or if someone is claiming to be selling our designs under license by us is not legit, and we'd appreciate it if you dropped us a line (https://www.tracknasty.com/contact)and let us know about it. We don't generally encourage snitching, but the reality is this is not a multi-million dollar a year business, and if someone is actually selling our stuff, we probably need to talk to them and see how they have managed to do it more successfully than we have...
